Take Action: Keep Elementary Arts in LAUSD
UPDATE 2/14/12: Congratulations, advocates. The LAUSD School Board has amended their budget proposal and requested alternatives to the elimination of arts education. This is step one in a budget process that will take several months.
The campaign below is no longer active due to these developments.
The Los Angeles Unified School District is proposing to eliminate its elementary arts program. Arts are core curriculum in California, and the purpose of public education is to provide students with the tools necessary to thrive in a 21st-century knowledge-based economy.
Please take action by sending your School Board member a letter, and then forward this Action Alert via email and Facebook.
Please send to only the Board member who represents you. Enter your address to find your district: lavote.net/OnlineDistrictmapApp/Default.cfm. Format: LOS ANGELES USD-BD EDUCATION [Board District Number]
Your letter will also be sent to Superintendent John Deasy. The salutations ("Dear Dr. Deasy," etc.) will be added when you press 'Send.'
